No, Harrison Barnes isn’t wearing a skin-tight Under-Armour-like compression shirt under his jersey. That is his jersey. Yes, believe it or not, the Golden State Warriors will debut a jersey with sleeves on February 22, 2013. How come no one told me the Warriors were a women’s basketball team?
I promise I’m not trying to be sexist, but I’ve only seen basketball jerseys with sleeves on women before Adidas released these photos of Harrison Barnes. In fact, I’m like 95% sure the JV girls basketball team back when I was in high school wore jerseys with sleeves. I’m really not sure what the Warriors are going after here.
I’m sure they’re light and are supposed to give the players full range of motion, but this skin-tight jersey seems more like a gimmick than innovative technology. Why didn’t they just go with a skin-tight jersey without the sleeves? What’s next? Pants? Theses new Golden State duds are definitely different, but I’m not feeling ‘em.
EDIT: I just heard that “swingman” version of this jersey will cost around $110, and authentic versions will run $300. Three hundred f*$%ing dollars? For a t-shirt? No thanks, Adidas.
