That’s the face of a man who just learned the only team he’s ever played for in the Major Leagues traded him mid-game. Luckily for Wilmer Flores (I think), the deal fell apart and he is still a member of the New York Mets. When tears poured down his face, you couldn’t help but think about Tom Hanks’ iconic scene from A League of Their Own where Jimmy Dugan proclaims “There’s no crying in baseball!”
Seeing the waterworks flow down Flores’ face got me thinking, is it appropriate for a professional athlete to cry on the field? Read the rest of this entry »
Immediately after the New York Knicks drafted the “Real-Life Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tube Man” Kristaps Porzingis, the Orlando Magic picked “Super” Mario Hezonja. Not only is it less of a mouthful to say his nickname, Hezonja has shown out as a possibly dominating force at the NBA’s Summer League while Porzingis has played OK, I guess (or a little better than anticipated) in Las Vegas. I can’t help but wonder, did the Knicks draft the wrong international prospect? Let’s take a look at how both rookies shined this summer: Read the rest of this entry »
WWE is fake. Broken noses are real. Pro Wrestling star John Cena actually broke his nose on Monday Night Raw when some guy with long hair kneed him in the face. Twitter and Vine blew up instantly, just like Cena’s nose. Check out the Vine after the jump: Read the rest of this entry »
The latest installment to the MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (and you have to type that it all capital letters or you don’t mean it), “Ant-Man” hit theaters last week and on Tuesday afternoon I got to view it. The guy sitting next to me at the theater fell asleep but that probably had nothing to do with the movie. Spoilers ahead….kind of.

I’ve talked a lot of shit about the New York Knicks’ 4th overall selection in the 2015 NBA Draft, Kristaps Porzingis. I’ve called him names such as The Human Scarecrow, a shitty Bane that no one is afraid of, a human stick figure, the man who got cursed by the old lady in Stephen King’s Thinner, Andrea Bargnani Lite, etc. I was absolutely furious when the Knicks drafted him, but after watching a few NBA Summer League games, I’ve come to the conclusion that the real-life Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tube Man Kristaps Porzingis is OK, I guess. Robbie Lawler KO’d Rory MacDonald at the 1 minute mark of the 5th round at UFC 189 to retain his UFC Welterweight title. Lawler owned the first two rounds, but a head kick delivered by MacDonald in the 3rd, turned the tide. MacDonald continued the assault thought the 4th round and had Lawler tired. From the beating he took in the first two rounds, MacDonald had a badly bloodied nose. That nose could not take any more punches in the 5th round after Lawler landed a clean shot to the face.
