Well, the writing was on the wall, but now it is official. After drafting quarterback Geno Smith in the second round of the NFL Draft last Friday, the Jets decided that they no longer needed Tim Tebow, and have released him this morning.

Well more like the Good, the Bad, and the Questionable because draft picks aren’t “ugly”, but regardless.

The NFL draft is finally over. And I mean finally. I love the draft as much as anyone, but the NFL needs to find a way to shorten it. This year’s draft was spread out over three days and took more than 15 hours. It feels like Eric Fisher was drafted four months ago.

The Good

San Diego Chargers

I think the Chargers had the best draft of any team this year. Their first three picks (D.J. Fluker/Manti Te’o/Keenan Allen) were all players with first round grades. Allen was once rated the top receiver in this class, Te’o was once a top five prospect, and Fluker has shot up draft boards. Not only did the Chargers draft good players, but they drafted players that fill needs for their team.

There were some big-time surprises in the first round of last night’s NFL Draft. Texas A&M Tackle Luke Joeckel was being mocked to the Chiefs at #1 overall for months, and on draft day, Kansas City decides to take Western Michigan Tackle Eric Fischer instead. Shows how much we all know. This is a draft full of offensive lineman and defensive players at the top, as was obvious with only 5 offensive skill position players taken, and for the first time ever no running backs taken in the first round.

Guys like Shariff Floyd, Dee Milliner, Tavon Austin, and Geno Smith are getting most of the attention for the upcoming NFL draft. We’ve heard all the names of the players projected to go in the first round, and even some guys that are projected to go in the second round. But what about the guys who will get drafted later than that? What about the guys who will be drafted on the third day of the NFL draft and make a big impact in the NFL at some point. The underrated NFL draft prospects. These guys aren’t getting nearly enough attention. So I decided to profile five players who most likely won’t be drafted in the first two rounds, but will end up having very good NFL careers.

2013-draft-logo-story

Well, the day is finally here. Today is the beginning of the 2013 NFL Draft. As a NFL nut, this is one of my favorite times of the year. Not only today with the first round, but I also enjoy the next two days. The later rounds in the draft are much more faster paced, there are many trades, and it is fun to see where my sleeper picks end up. These are the last of my sleepers for the 2013 NFL Draft: Johnathan Franklin from UCLA, Quanterus Smith of Western Kentucky, and Rogers Gaines of Tennessee State.

NFL: Combine

Former LSU star Tyrann “Honey Badger” Mathieu, has always thought pretty highly of himself.  Even after getting kicked off the LSU football team for “violation of team rules” and spending time in a drug rehab facility, he’s holding a draft party.  I wonder where this kid is getting the money to pay for this party?  And what a perfect place for a recovering drug addict to be on the night of the draft?  A CLUB!!!

That’s right, a kid who’s been doing drugs and not playing football for well over a year, is proclaiming himself as a first round pick.  News flash brah, Al Davis is dead and even Jerry Jones wouldn’t waste a first round pick on you.

If you think we are joking, check out the picture he put on his personal Instagram after the jump.

"Bow down to the paid one."

“Bow down to the paid one.”

This 2013 NFL off-season has shaken up the league in a hurry. As always, some teams more active than others, but some mediocre teams have transformed into serious contenders. Teams continue to unload cash prior to the draft in hope of making a run for the Lombardi. Who has made the biggest splash in Free Agency? See for yourself.

The 2013 NFL Draft is right around the corner. While I do not think that the top of this draft is stocked with top of the line talent, there are some under the radar guys who I think can become mid to late round steals. In this edition, I am going to profile Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib, LSU DB Tyrann Mathieu, and Stony Brook RB Miguel Maysonet.
