Eastern Conference
#1 Pittsburgh Penguins vs #7 Ottawa Senators
The Penguins did what they were supposed to do on home ice. Sidney Crosby scored a hat trick in game two to give the Pens a 2-0 lead in the series. The flightless birds were about to take a commanding 3-0 series lead on the Sens when THIS HAPPENED!!!… Read the rest of this entry »

I’m screwed.
I have never become so disgusted over a Mets team in my twenty-three years or so that I’ve been legitimately following them. First of all, the clown featured in the photo above needs to go ASAP. The team clearly doesn’t give a shit about anything he has to say and he has no clue how to run a baseball team, never has. He brought some positive vibes here in 2011 and temporarily changed the culture of the clubhouse but he’s done now. I don’t care who they replace him with because this season is fucked anyway. Who says there’s no fighting in the playoffs? Last night’s game between the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators was extremely physical and boiled over once the game was out of reach for the Canadiens. After Kyle Turris scored in the third to make it 4-1 Ottawa, Canadiens center Ryan White viciously slashed Zach Smith in the ankle right off the faceoff. This sparked a 5-on-5 brawl. Everyone on the ice except the goalies were involved.
For video of the fight, check it out after the jump.

Last night in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals between the Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Canadiens, there was a monstrous hit just inside the Canadiens blue line that left Lars Eller unconscious and bleeding all over the ice. Canadiens defenseman Raphael Diaz made what is known as a “suicide pass” up the ice to Eller. A “suicide pass” is one that is made that leads the player receiving the pass up the ice into a high traffic area that leaves him exposed for a big hit.

I don’t have a mullet, but I do have all of my teeth. For these reasons I am not your average hockey fan, and by not your average hockey fan I mean I don’t watch the NHL. I have more fingers on my hands than the amount of active professional hockey players I can name. I was watching ESPN today and found out the Kings won the Stanley Cup last year. Sweet. Way to go LA (they play in LA, right?).
We have several avid hockey fans that blog for us here at TSB, I’m just not one of them. I’m here to tell you who would win the Stanley Cup if team mascots were to fight each other in a 7 game series. Let’s do this. Read the rest of this entry »

Tonight during the second intermission of the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers game, resident knucklehead Mike Milbury, went on an epic rant about Alex Ovechkin. As a life long New York Islanders fan, I have nothing but hate for this man. But for once, he made the right move. Exposing Ovechkin for the player he has become.
Ovechkin has become an extremely lazy player and is morphing into the Randy Moss of the NHL.
During his rant, Milbury drops this beauty: ”A blind pass…eight-year-olds don’t do this in the offensive zone!”
Check out the video after the jump.

Friday Night the Chicago Blackhawks set a new record for the most consecutive games with gaining at least one point in the standing to start a season. They have gone 17 games without a regulation loss. This breaks a record that the Anaheim Ducks set in the 2006-2007 season.

Hey ESPN, which guy do you think would play hockey?
Earlier tonight the New York Islanders made another trade to acquire a proven stud goaltender that has decided to “sit this one out”. Two seasons ago it was former San Jose Sharks netminder Evgeni Nabokov, who flat-out refused to play for them, and this year its former Conn Smythe winner, Tim Thomas.
According to ESPN.com, even though Thomas has said he will not be playing this year, he will help the Islanders low-post game and rebounding in the future. Huh?
Thanks to @FlyersNation, they were able to get a screen grab of the ESPN.com article that was reporting the story. Read the rest of this entry »

No way Garth! Yes way Wayne! Hockey is back. Stan Makita’s donuts would be hopping on Saturday night if it was a real place.

It took 119 days but the NHL and the NHLPA have come to an agreement to the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The agreement came last Sunday morning at 5am Eastern time. While most of us were all sleeping the two parties hashed out a deal after talking for over 16 hours. This deal will allow all NHL to be played for a long time without interruption.

The NHL is back, and so are the Ice Girls!

At 4:40 am on Sunday, the NHL and it’s players agreed to a new CBA that will keep the NHL skating for the next 8-10 years without a work stoppage.
They are still hammering out all the little details as we speak. You know, like a schedule, number of games, how the Devils can front load a contract. Actually they can’t, that was a big part of the negotiations.
So in anticipation of the NHL starting up in about 2-3 weeks, what better way to kick off the excitement than with some of the NHL’s hottest “Ice Girls”? Not every team will be represented here, due to the fact that not every team employs smokin’ hot chicks to clean up the snow buildup around the benches and net. Some teams just enjoy looking at 50-year-old dudes with beer belly’s, rockin’ the 1987 sateen jacket that is 3 sizes to small. Read the rest of this entry »
