It’s been 15 years since a winner in the NASCAR Camping World Truck series lead every lap  from the drop of the green to the checkered flag. Ron Hornaday was the driver’s name and Louisville Motor Speedway was the track.

On Wednesday night, an unusual night for a race, it was Timothy Peters and the No. 17 of Red Horse Racing to put his name in the history books. This was the first race on Bristol Motor Speedway’s new surface, which cost approximately $1 million dollars and promised to bring back the beating and banging of Bristol.

There was no early cautions, which cause some fans to be all up in arms on Twitter. The first caution didn’t come until Lap 81 when Chris Jones hit the wall.

With 41 laps to go and Peters still leading, Keystone Pole Winner Cale Gale tried to pass Todd Bodine on the backstretch but made contact, cutting Bodine’s rear tire and sending him into the Turn 3 wall bringing out the yellow.

Then with six laps to go, Cale Gale spun and hit the wall bringing out the caution.
Fans would see a green-white-checker finish and in the end Peters would celebrate his second win of the season.
In victory lane, he said that this win was an “awesome feeling.” Peters is the current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader.
The next race for the series is August 31st at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
